Our own edge
Every site connects through an Aegis-managed site kit into encrypted tunnels that end on our own network hubs, not a best-effort trip across the public internet.
Most VoIP providers send your calls across the open internet and hope for the best. AEGIS runs its own voice network edge, from the managed site kit at your door to our data center clusters in Ohio and Virginia, on hardware that knows a voice packet when it sees one.
Every site connects through an Aegis-managed site kit into encrypted tunnels that end on our own network hubs, not a best-effort trip across the public internet.
The site kit recognizes real-time voice and treats it differently from downloads and video: prioritized, protected, and sent the most reliable way.
Whether your site has two connections or four (fiber, cable, 5G, or satellite), they aren't backups sitting idle. They all carry your calls, in both directions, all the time.
Your voice and your caller's voice travel over every connection your site has, at the same time and in both directions, and the most reliable audio is what gets played. A connection can stutter, jitter, drop packets, or go down completely, and your call simply carries on.
We recorded one message and sent it through connections having a terrible day. Pick the problem, choose your connections, and press play.
Every clip is the same recording, spoken by a computer-generated voice: "Thanks for calling AEGIS Communications. We sent this message through a really rough internet connection, with heavy jitter and packet loss. If you can understand every word, you're hearing the AEGIS network at work."
The "audio lost" figure beside each clip is the share of the message that could not be played back cleanly.
If every connection at your site drops at once, AEGIS keeps the call alive in our cloud and asks the other party to stand by. When your site comes back, the conversation picks up right where it left off. No redial, no "sorry, we got cut off."
Calls stay clear through jitter, packet loss, and congestion that leave typical VoIP choppy or robotic.
If one connection drops, your calls are already riding the others. If they all drop, the call waits in our cloud until you're back.
What you say and what your callers say are protected equally, in both directions, on every call.
When the network does lose pieces of a call, our platform rebuilds them on the fly, even through severe packet loss.
Automated test calls on each of your connections and quality scoring on real calls show exactly where any problem came from.
Report a call issue: Measured, not guessedVoice travels inside encrypted tunnels from your site to our data centers, with TLS and SRTP protecting every call.

Captions are built into the video. The waveform on screen is the actual call audio from our phone system.

Hey, Shea!
How's it going?
About 13,800 feet.
How's the call quality up here?
I can hear you crystal clear.
Yeah, same.
Now that is outstanding.
We just wanted to make a phone call and prove to everybody looking at Aegis Communications that we can do the best, highest quality, most reliable phones on the planet. And we're on top of the planet to prove it.

Every AEGIS site has at least two connections, and we supply additional connections as part of our service when a site needs them. Depending on your setup, a site kit may include any of these.
Aegis-managed routers that bond, steer, and protect every connection at your site.
Session border controllers at the edge that secure and normalize voice signaling before it leaves your building.
Cellular connectivity that carries your calls all the time, not just an emergency spare.
Low-earth-orbit satellite service for sites where ground-based connections fall short.
